Director of CDC at the University of Zakho Has Been Selected by IREX to Attend a Training Course in Washington

Ms. Edi S.Kachal, Director of the Career Development Center (CDC) at the University of Zakho and lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, has been selected by IREX organization to attend a training course in Washington, D.C. which was managed by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX) in the United States of America. IREX is an international American organization supported by the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.

IREX announced a training course for the successful centers for which Ms. Edi S. Kachal applied. Due to her ability and success since the launching of the CDC, her application was successful and she is one of those who have been accepted to attend this course as a representative of the University of Zakho University.

The Career Development Center at the University of Zakho was founded after a decree was issued by the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to establish career development centers at all universities in the Kurdistan Region. This project was initiated on April 2015 in association with IREX organization in order to build a bridge between the private sector and the University of Zakho plus providing enhanced studies of employability by skills training to develop at the workplace and get ahead in the career by building up soft skills during the study at the university.

The aim of the organization is to work on the development of the education and higher education sectors in Iraq and to establish close connections between Iraqi and American universities.

After successfully accomplishing an online training course, the Director of CDC at the University of Zakho was able to gain this opportunity, for which many academics of other universities in the Kurdistan have applied.

Ms. Edi S. Kachal stated that this opportunity could be a forward step for the University of Zakho to build strong ties with universities in the United States of America.
